Pregnancy Education Courses

Rouse Hill Women's Health provides the local Hills & Hawkesbury women education courses to empower and support them through all stages of their life. 

Created and presented by Dr Nicole Leotta , Womens Health specialist and Doctor Catherine McKelvey - Hills and Hawkesbury Womens Health Physiotherapist . Both ladies specialise in women's health and have assisted hundreds of ladies prepare their body and minds for birth. 

Our current courses assist Hills and Hawkesbury women and their support person to be educated and empowered to make informed decisions about their birth. Birthing & caring for their baby fearlessly, safely, and confidently. 

Labour & Birth Course:

  • Provide you with the knowledge, confidence and tools needed

  • Understand cardinal movements of the body

  • Understand the hormones behind labour

  • Understand how the uterus contracts and baby descends to allow dialtion.

  • Understand how to prepare you body for birth, including:

  • Practice birth positions for different stages of labour

  • Pelvic floor and abdominal wall preparation

  • Taught how to push

  • Evidence based facts about assistance to assist in informed decision making.

  • Begin creating a birth decision tree.

  • Practice pain management techniques including birth skills, TENS and acupressure.

Post Partum Mum & Bub Course:

​Mum

  • First 6weeks, what changes to expect with your body, challenges you may face and initial management strategies

  • Abdominal separation and recovery

  • Pelvic Floor Recovery

  • Breast feeding

  • Scar Tissue care: Episiotomy, tear or c-section

  • When to return to exercise & sexual intercourse

Bub

  • How to care for your baby

  • Feeding

  • Early baby challenges (colic, blocked tear duct, cradle cap)

  • Developmental milestones in first 6 weeks

  • Immunisations
